1) This firmware is only for the model SM-G900F, check your model once again before installation
2) Do it at your own risk, we are not responsible if anything happen to your device after following this guide.
3) Your device should have sufficient battery power (at least 50% to 60%)
4) Check whether the USB Debugging mode is turned on, go to Settings-General-Developer
Options (As the Developer options are hidden by default on all Android
device running on Android 4.2 or up, So go to Settings-General-About on
your Galaxy S5 and tap Build Number for 7 times to visible the
Developer options.) See the image below.
5) Backup or copy important data (photos, videos, notes) and settings to external storage (in case you lost after installation]
If you done with all the above instructions, then follow the steps to update G900FXXU1BOJ1 Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware on Galaxy S5 G900F:
1) Download G900FXXU1BOJ1 5.0 Lollipop firmware zip file for your country and unzip/extract the zip to get the firmware file with .tar.md5 extension.
2) Download latest Odin utility for your PC/Laptop from
here (or search Google for Odin download)
3) Completely switch off your device and press and hold the
Volume Down+Home+Power buttons together to boot in to
Download Mode (long press until the boot screen appear) and after that press
Volume Up key to proceed to
Download Mode.
4) Now run the Odin3 .exe file as
an administrator (Right click on the .exe file and click on Run as
administrator)
5) Now connect your Galaxy S5 G900F to your computer via USB cable
6) In Odin3 screen, you should see a COM Port number like
“0:[COM4]” at ID:COM
section at top left side and
“Added!” text at the message box. This means your device has been
detected by Odin3.
7) In Odin screen, under Options tab, make sure that, only the
“Auto Reboot” and
“F. Reset Time” options are checked, no other option should checked.
8) Now, click on
AP button and select the firmware file with
.tar.md5 extension (The firmware file look something like: G900FXXEMH4_G900FODDEMK1_G900FDDEMG2_HOME.tar.md5)
9) Finally, click on the Start button to begin the installation process, wait few moments, it may take approximately 4 to 10 minutes to complete.
10) Once completed, you would see
“PASS!” message in ID:COM port having green background
11) Your device should automatically reboot after completion
12) You can now disconnect your device from computer by removing the USB cable
13) You are done, check your Settings-About Phone to see the details of the latest updated firmware.
Troubleshooting! Fix Bootloop on Galaxy S5 SM-G900F
It may happens that, your device may stuck at booting screen. If your Galaxy S5 SM-G900F fail to start or restart frequently or stuck at boot animation screen for more than 10 minutes, then follow these instructions:
- Remove the battery and place it again. Go to Recovery Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up+Home+Power buttons together (long press until something appears on the screen).
- Now, perform Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition task before selecting the reboot system now option. In Recovery Mode use the Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select any option.
